Ananth Nayak currently does watercolor on paper, pen & Ink, doodles and the occasional outdoor acrylic mural.  

He believes that working in different mediums has allowed him a greater appreciation of the power of each in his art and drawing. Each medium manifests its own individual style and freedom and allows him to carry techniques learned from one to another. He draws his inspiration from geometric shapes, nature, patterns as well as the human form and you see these themes come through in his artwork.

His paintings capture the fluidity of watercolor layered with strong brushwork and intricate detail capturing a definition akin to oil on canvas. His work is versatile and he deals with a broad spectrum of subjects with ease.

Ananth’s pen and ink drawings demonstrate a conceptual and imaginative maturity that flows. The use of black mono-chromatic ink encourages a blend of bold and fine lines, doodles, contrasts, patterns, forms and geometric shapes with which he effortlessly balances complex compositions.  

Born in Mumbai, India, Ananth  was captivated by art as a child.  He has had no formal training or education in Fine Art and is primarily self taught. 

A former Squash champion, Ananth earned his degree in Business and Law, later co-founding and heading a successful company pioneering web-based law services in India.  

Ananth now lives in San Francisco. When not at his drawing board, he is often cooking classic Indian and other specialties, and spending time with family and friends.
